Cd - Cadmium

This toxic metal was discovered by Fredrich Strohmeyer in 1817, who was heating zinc carbonate (formerly known as kadmia) to remove impurities. The crimson emission color of cadmium is identified the flame tests in CHM 152. The pictured bar is coated with CdO.
