I - Iodine

The solid halogen was discovered in 1811 by Bernard Courtois in seaweed. The solubility, reactions and phase changes of iodine are explored by our students. Iodine has been used for its antibacterial qualities. Leonard Cohen wrote a song named Iodine that describes the effect of iodine on the senses.
