ASM awards recognize excellence in science, education, and service to the profession of
microbiology and the ASM. The scientific awards honor achievement in fundamental research,
developmental research and reduction to practice, and encompass the many subspecialities
of microbiology including: biotechnology, environmental microbiology, antimicrobial
chemotherapy, clinical microbiology, immunology, and virology.
