What Are Recalls?
Recalls are voluntary actions carried out by industry in cooperation with Federal and State agencies. Products
are recalled when found to be contaminated, adulterated, or misbranded.
Federal Agencies
Recalls of meat and poultry products that are produced by Federally inspected establishments are
coordinated and monitored by the Food Safety and Inspection Service.
Active Cases. This page contains summary data on
recalls that are still in progress. When a recall is completed, it will be removed from this listing,
but will be included in the Recall Case Archive.
Recall Case Archive. A complete listing of all recalls,
whether open or closed.
State Agencies
Recalls of meat and poultry products that are produced by privately owned retail outlets are
coordinated and monitored by State agencies. This area of the Recall Information Center serves
as a clearinghouse for information on these product recalls.
The listing of retail recalls administered by State agencies may not be complete.
To obtain further information on a retail-level recall listed on this site, contact the
office listed under State Agency in the Retail Recall Notification Report.
