A new series of CD-ROMS is designed to help middle-school educators encourage students
in hands-on inquiry. The lessons are based on the new National Science Education

Whats the Secret CD-ROMs (Macintosh and Windows)
The Newton's Apple CD-ROM series "What's the Secret " is an engaging interactive
learning experience for grades 1-8. Each CD-ROM explores different science questions, with
on-screen activities, quizzes and games, video clips, and experiments to do when you turn
off the computer!
Three exciting volumes are available: Volume #1 includes Bees, the Heart, Roller Coasters
and Sound. Volume #2 includes The Arctic, the Brain , Flight and glue. Volume #3 includes

Newton's Apple 15th season is not just 13 new episodes on PBS, but a host of exciting
science "edutainment" products from CD-ROMs to live theater. A principal
component of the new Enterprise initiative at KTCA-TV in St.Paul, the Newton's Apple
product line is part of a broad effort to generate new revenues for Public Television.

International Distribution
Newton's Apple is growing in international markets. In collaboration with Pro TV of
Australia, KTCA has developed a new international format for distribution to foreign
countries. We combine existing video from the extensive Newton's Apple
library with new science segments taped with personalities in the individual countries,
to create a tailored "local" version of the program. The goal is to create
the kind of accessible science television show that has become the hallmark of Newton's
Apple for International audiences.
