Adult Surveys

The adult surveys were undertaken to describe the prevalence and demographic correlates of substance use and to estimate the incidence of substance abuse and dependence to determine the need for state-funded treatment services. The 1996 survey included interviews with over 8,000 adults throughout the state. It identifies patterns of use and dependence by region, metropolitan area, age, and race/ethnicity.
