Mn - Manganese

A transition metal. The metal discovered in 1770 by Ignatius Kaim, investigated by Bergman and Scheele and finally isolated by swedish mineralist Johann Gottlieb Gahn. The permanganate ion is used in several of our laboratory exercises.
