This section is divided into two parts:
| Determining Your Risk | Are you at risk for developing heart disease? Many people who are at high risk of heart disease are not aware of this risk. Some of the risk factors for heart disease have been known for a long time. Other new methods for determining your risk of heart disease are not yet widely used by doctors. These include specialized blood and genetic tests, as well as tests that look directly at blood vessels to detect the presence of plaque or blockage. This section provides detailed information and resources about old and new ways to determine your risk of heart disease. New articles will be added to the sections in the upcoming weeks. |
| Reducing Your Risk | If you are at risk, what are the best ways to reduce your risk? There is a lot of information out there, but it's often confusing, conflicting, or incomplete. The fact is that there are proven ways to substantially decrease your risk of heart disease. This section reviews the different ways to reduce risk, making clear which ones have been proven, which ones are promising, and which ones might be appropriate for you. New articles will be added to the sections in the upcoming weeks. |
